Meanwhile, 45% of organizations encountered unintended data exposure when implementing AI solutions, according to AvePoint's 2024 AI and Information Management Report. "It's often what we call dark data," Simberkoff said. So how do leaders improve data permissions and protections in light of or, ideally, before AI implementation? "It's making your end users aware of the information you're responsible for. "When you're using AI, it's really important to make sure that you're checking it and that you're using it for its purpose."

The yen held its line against the dollar on Tuesday after making sharp gains the previous day in moves that traders said were sparked by suspected intervention by Japanese authorities. "There is clearly a possibility that the sharp and sudden lifts in the JPY were sparked by intervention. Official figures that would reveal whether intervention did in fact occur won't be available until late May. The Japanese currency still sits lower than it was before the Bank of Japan's policy announcement last week. The Fed is expected to strike a hawkish message, meaning more yen selling is likely, CBA's Kong said.

As the second quarter begins, we're taking stock of the AI trade. Microsoft leads There's no denying Microsoft's execution, which paved the way for generative AI to go mainstream and the company to then make money from the emerging technology. Alphabet may have messed up by letting Microsoft leap ahead on generative AI, but the company has years of experience in artificial intelligence research. That alone should tell you just how big these companies are betting that generative AI will indeed be transformative — on par with smartphones or the internet itself. Jerome Powell, chair of the Federal Reserve, during a House Financial Services Committee hearing in Washington, D.C., on June 21, 2023. The past several months have seen a changing dynamic between financial markets and the Fed over the pace and timing of expected interest rate cuts this year. Markets have had to adjust their collective view from a highly accommodative central bank to one that's more cautious and deliberate. Central to the question of how the Fed acts from here on out is its view on inflation and how Powell expresses that. Powell will have to synthesize the recent trends carefully as he speaks first to the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday, then the Senate Banking Committee the day after.

The "looksmaxxing" community is a group of mostly young men sharing tactics to improve their attractiveness. After trying the "soft" version of these techniques for a week, I feel the trend is inherently cruel and harmful. By the end of the week, I felt like looksmaxxing and its subcultures were a scam designed to reel in young, insecure people. While this sort of abusive community exists everywhere online, it seems particularly toxic and supercharged among young men. I found myself feeling sympathetic to the young men who feel like they need to perform these ridiculous rituals to love themselves.
